Portable Technology Solutions Releases Innovative Data Syncing Software
Posted by Erik Hornung on 25 January 2012 10:35 AM
CALVERTON, NY. – Jan. 23 2012 – Portable Technology Solutions, LLC. (www.tracerplus.com) has announced availability of their innovative TracerPlus Connect software as a free trial download at www.tracerplus.com. TracerPlus Connect allows anyone to sync data between databases, Microsoft Excel, text files or data collected with their TracerPlus mobile software with a high level of control and without a steep learning curve.

TracerPlus Connect was developed to break down the barriers for both programmers and non-programmers who have grown tired of the complex workarounds needed in order to share data between different departments using incompatible data systems. Its primary purpose is to easily sync between PTS’s TracerPlus mobile data collection software and an array of widely used databases.

PTS CTO Dan Peluso states, “We’ve been focused on our customer’s wish list and how to provide that to them. By tightly integrating TracerPlus Connect with the TracerPlus Desktop mobile form designer and the TracerPlus mobile client, users can now create flexible syncing instructions tailored to each application for use within the office or out in the field.”

Anthony Ziegler, Systems Analyst at a major copy machine manufacturer and member of the TracerPlus Connect beta program shared his experiences using TracerPlus Connect. "With TracerPlus Connect we can accurately track the locations of over 2,000 printers, laptops and other equipment. We track their locations, IP addresses, what breaks down, and even what parts are used to repair them. The granular syncing ability of TracerPlus Connect allows us to keep accurate tabs on our assets campus-wide with confidence.”

TracerPlus Connect has also opened up possibilities for users who don’t yet have a mobile element to their businesses. The ability to sync any ODBC database table like Microsoft Access, SQL databases and Oracle to other sources like Excel and text files will help the transfer of information throughout an organization.

CEO Brad Horn explains, “We took the best parts of our other syncing tools and added a powerful new set of features that our industry now requires. In doing so, we created a new tool for people that may not even have mobility as a part of their business.”

TracerPlus Connect provides a number of additional features including the ability to send filtered records out of a central database to different recipients automatically, the option to sync through a wired connection or via wireless network, and the ability to run behind the scenes as a Windows Service.

TracerPlus based Solution wins MBT 2008 Innovation Insight Award
Posted by Joseph Kraebel (Import) on 28 October 2010 04:17 PM
HOLTSVILLE, N.Y., March 6 PRNewswire-FirstCall -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and PartnerSelect Solution Provider Portable Technology Solutions (PTS) today announced that Ce De Candy Inc., manufacturer and distributor of SMARTIES(R), the classic sugar candy line, has implemented an enterprise mobility solution to meet the FDA's new Food Bioterrorism regulation while also increasing the efficiency and accuracy of manufacturing processes throughout its supply chain and warehouse.

The FDA regulation required that food manufacturers maintain records that allow complete traceability for all raw goods and manufactured products by June 2006. To meet the critical mandate, Ce De implemented a mobility solution consisting of the Motorola MC9000 rugged mobile computer running PTS's TracerPlus software, as well as the Motorola WS5100 Wireless Switch, AP300 Access Ports and the ES3000 with Power over Ethernet (PoE) Switch. The solution was configured to existing processes at Ce De Candy within one week, with full deployment being finalized within the following four weeks.

"We needed a solution that would allow us to comply with the FDA mandate, but at the same time, not disrupt the manufacturing processes we already had in place" said Rick DePinto, IT manager for Ce De Candy. "The Motorola/PTS enterprise mobility solution met our firm timing and budget requirements, increased our productivity, and improved data quality and process efficiencies, while providing the superior ruggedness that is essential in our warehouse environment."

The Motorola MC9000 is used to scan raw materials received from vendors and placed into inventory in the Ce De warehouse -- each material is immediately assigned a raw material lot number which will eventually be connected to a finished good and its finished goods lot number, as per the Food Bioterrorism regulation. The finished goods lot number will be used for tracking through the pick and pack process and until finished goods are shipped out against a customer order.

"Motorola's manufacturing solutions play a vital role in improving the operations of organizations" said Kevin Prouty, senior director of manufacturing solutions, Motorola Networks & Enterprise. "Enterprise mobility enables organizations like Ce De Candy to transform and streamline current practices, allowing for quicker velocity of products through the warehouse, essentially optimizing all warehouse operations."

Ce De Candy also selected Motorola's multi-year Service from the Start service plan. Service from the Start provides enhanced support beyond the standard product warranty -- including priority response and call escalation, and comprehensive device coverage including cosmetic repair.

"Ce De Candy implemented this enterprise mobility solution from Motorola and PTS because of the continuous customer service and support we received -- from purchase decision through deployment," added DePinto. "And with the multi-year Service from the Start service plan, we are guaranteed top services and support for our investment."
