Error 1904 - Rapi.dll failed to register
Posted by Joseph Kraebel on 26 November 2012 11:01 AM

You will receive this error during the install of TracerPlus Connect if Microsoft ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Device Center is not installed. In some versions this will prevent TracerPlus Connect from launching with an error of failed to launch. To resolve the issue simply install the appropriate Microsoft syncing software below:

ActiveSync - For Windows XP, Windows Server 2000, 2003 - 32 and 64 Bit

Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Update - For Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012

32 Bit

64 Bit

Note: Windows Server 2008 and 2012 require the Desktop Experience to be enabled in order to install the Windows Mobile Device Center update. Click Here to view an article highlighting this feature.

Note for Users of Windows 10: Users have been seeing mixed results in getting Windows Mobile Device Center to connect properly to a device in Windows 10. There are no updates coming from Microsoft that we are aware of that address this issue so you may need to take the issue up with your device manufacturer if it will not connect. We have found that changing the type of USB connection sometimes resolves the issue and can typically be found by going to the USB to PC connection settings on the device and disabling the advanced networking functionality.
