Barcodes and Smartform

Setting up barcode scanning and Smartform can be a powerful addition to any TracerPlus application.  Barcode scanning settings in TracerPlus differ greatly depending on the mobile device you are using.  Tracerplus has native support for all Zebra/Motorola, CipherLab and most Janam scanners.  These supported scanners can utilize all the barcode features in TracerPlus including Smartform.

On Android devices it is possible to use the camera to scan barcodes.  This can be set by changing the Input Type of a field to barcode in the Form Designer.  To find the Input Type option, first select the field you wish to enable barcode scanning for.  Now to the right of the screen in the Selected Control Properties window, look for the Data section.  This is where the Input Type option is located.

If your mobile device uses a scan wedge application for scanning, then it will not support the "Barcode Scan Complete" Smartform rule.

To configure a Smartfrom rule, first enter the Data Capture section of the session you wish to enable scanning for.  Once there make sure the Enable Barcode Scanner option is enabled.  To the right you will find the Smartform configuration section.  To add a Smartform Rule, hit the green plus sign. Many Smartform Rules are available including Barcode Scan Complete, RFID Scan Complete, Data Has length, Data Contains, Data Ends With and Data Begins With.  Once your Smartform Rule has been created, TracerPlus will now auto-populate the scanned barcode to the selected destination field even if that field is not selected when scanning.
