The Confidex Viking beacons app also known as Runestone allows a user to turn on, turn off, and configure the settings of Confidex Viking beacons. These beacons are turned off when shipped from a warehouse making the use of the app necceary to turn the beacons on. This guide explains how to turn them on as well as various other settings that can be configured.
*To perform the configuration you will need the Confidex CSV file for your beacon data. Please contact TracerPlus support to retrieve this file. Once you get this file copy it directly to your Android device.
First install the Confidex Runestone App APK : This is available on the Google Play store (Recommended) or Click Here to Download (Check with Confidex for the latest version).
Make sure NFC and Bluetooth are enabled
Open application
Select the menu button at the top right, click Import CSV file and select the CSV file you copied to the Android device.
Press the beacon up against the NFC scanner on the mobile device
The beacon status will be read by the app on the device
There are several options that can be chosen from the menu
- Turn Beacon On
- Turn Beacon Off
- Read Status
- And Configure
To turn a beacon on press the beacon up against the device wait for the general information to populate and select ‘Beacon On’
To turn a beacon off press the beacon up against the device, wait for the general information to populate and select ‘Beacon Off’
The configure tab gives you several different options. You can edit the following:
- Transmit power (dBm)
- Transmit power delta (dBm)
- Advertisement interval (ms)
- Alias
If you swipe to the left on the general configure options you can also add an ‘Eddystone’ URL.
If you swipe left again you can edit acceleration settings. Here you can change the settings for:
- Acceleration RMS period (s)
- Acceleration Minimum/Maximum period (s)
- Acceleration meter ODR (Hz)
- Acceleration meter FS (G)
If you swipe left one more time you edit Activity settings. Here you can change the settings for:
- Activity threshold (mG)
- Activity debounce time (s)
- Activity keep active time (s)
You can view all of the configurations you have set on a beacon by swiping left on the ‘Beacon Status’ Box at the top of the page. This will show the configured settings you chose in the previously mentioned menus.
The ‘Devices’ menu can be accessed by swiping left again or selecting the 3 dots and the top of the application and hitting the ‘Devices’ button.
