TracerPlus Connect version 7 requires that the Windows Mobile Device Center update be installed in order to launch the application. TracerPlus Connect versions 7-9 require .Net 3.5.
This requires the Desktop Experience to be enabled in both Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012. Follow the steps below to turn on the Desktop Experience feature and install TracerPlus Connect.
Installing TracerPlus Connect on Windows Server 2008 R2:
- Open the Server Manager.
- In the left panel click Features.
- Click Add Features on the right hand side.
- Check the Desktop Experience option.
- You may be prompted to add a required feature. If so, click the Add Required Features button.
- Click Next and then click Install.
- Click Close and then click Yes to restart the Server.
- The server may reboot a few times to complete the update.
- After the server has been fully restarted you will see the Resume Configuration Wizard finish. Click Close.
- Download and install the Windows Mobile Device Center update at the bottom of this article and then install the TracerPlus Connect software.(This step is only required for TracerPlus Connect version 7)
Installing TracerPlus Connect on Windows Server 2012:
- Open the Server Manager.
- Click option 2 to Add roles and features.
- Keep clicking Next until you get to the Features page.
- If .NET Framework 3.5 is not enabled, you will need to enabled it by expanding the .NET Framework 3.5 Features and checking .NET Framework 3.5.
- Expand the User Interfaces and Infrastructure (Installed) option.
- Check the Desktop Experience option.
- You may be prompted to add a required feature. If so, click the Add Features button.
- Click Next and then click Install.
- Click Close and then reboot the Server.
- The server may reboot a few times to complete the update.
- After the server has been fully restarted, download and install the Windows Mobile Device Center update at the bottom of this article and then install the TracerPlus Connect software.

Note: If you are using TracerPlus Connect version 8 and later, the above steps to install Windows Mobile Device Center are not required though you may still need to enable .Net 3.5.
