Installing TracerPlus to Windows Mobile / CE devices without a USB Connection

The Installation of TracerPlus to Windows Mobile and CE devices typically requires a USB connection to a PC and the Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center utility showing as connected. Since WMDC is a product no longer supported by Microsoft, it does not always work requiring a different method for installing TracerPlus to these devices. If you are unable to resolve the WMDC connectivity issue with your PC via USB, below are some alternative means for getting TracerPlus installed to your Windows Mobile and CE based devices.

METHOD 1: Use an SD Card

1. You will need access to the SD Card from your PC and the device in question would also need to have a slot to insert the SD Card.
2. From your PC, browse to the SD Card using Windows Explorer and copy one of the .cab files to it.
3. Remove the SD Card from your PC and place it into the Mobile device. The device may need to be powered down or rebooted when doing so.
4. After the SD Card has been inserted and the device is booted, locate a "File Explorer" type app on the device and browse to the SD Card.
5. Single Click (Windows Mobile) or Double Click (Windows CE) the ArmV4 or ArmV4i cab file to initiate the install and follow the prompts.
6. Note that if your PC and mobile device support a different form of removable storage then you can follow the steps above.

METHOD 2: Download the .cab file via the Internet

1. If your device has Wi-Fi or Cellular connectivity, you can download the appropriate cab file directly to the device.
2. This method requires creating a ticket with our support group requesting a link to download the cab file and we will need the following information so we can send the appropriate cab file:
   1. Model of mobile device and OS it is running.
   2. Version and Build of TracerPlus you intend to use. This should match the version of TracerPlus Desktop you have installed.
3. Once we have this info, a download link will be sent and you can access this link directly on the device using its built-in web browser.
4. This will download the cab file to your device and note where you save the file.
5. Locate a "File Explorer" type app on the device and browse to the folder you downloaded the cab file to.
6. Single Click (Windows Mobile) or Double Click (Windows CE) the ArmV4 or ArmV4i cab file to initiate the install and follow the prompts.

METHOD 3: Use Remote Device Management Software

1. This method requires the use of a 3rd party device management tool.
2. The cab file would be retrieved per above and then using the remote tool, push out the cab file to the device.
3. Based on the type of Remote tool you are using the installation may start automatically.
